50 Years Later, Less than 25 minutes More...

April 18, 2017

This woman is one of my Heros!

She was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon back in 1967 before women were allowed to run, because their bodies "weren't built for it".  The Boston Marathon first allowed women to run in 1972.

She was 20 at the time...and from my home town area...she was a student at Syracuse University, and she ran under the name "K.V. Swtizer".  She finished in 4 hours and 20 minutes.  2 miles into the race, officials tried to rip her bib off of her, but her boyfriend intervened!
